Barangaroo House

Barangaroo, Sydney — Accoya in Anthracite

About the project

Barangaroo House is an iconic waterfront building in Sydney, designed by Collins and Turner. It features Accoya timber cladding coated with WOCA Exterior Wood Oil in Anthracite.

The distinctive curved form is created using charred timber, combining traditional Shou Sugi Ban techniques with a modern architectural expression.

WOCA Exterior Wood Oil enhances the deep charcoal tones of the timber while providing durable protection in a highly exposed coastal environment. Applied over charred Accoya, the finish supports long-term performance with minimal maintenance, making it well suited to demanding exterior conditions.

The result

The result is a bold and cohesive façade that highlights the natural texture of the timber while demonstrating how WOCA Exterior Wood Oil can be used to achieve both durability and architectural impact.
