Waiheke Island home

Onetapu, Waiheke Island — Western Red Cedar, Vitex in various colours

About the project

Onetapu is an architectural home on Waiheke Island, New Zealand, designed by architect Charissa Snijders. It features timber finished with WOCA products across a range of interior and exterior elements.

WOCA Exterior Wood Oil is applied to cladding, screens and soffits, enhancing the natural grain and character of the timber while providing durable protection suited to coastal conditions.

A combination of colours has been used to define different parts of the home, from deeper walnut tones through to lighter, softened finishes. The result is a cohesive and natural timber palette that flows seamlessly between interior and exterior spaces.

The result

Longevity and sustainably sourced materials were key to the project, with WOCA supporting a natural, durable and low-toxicity finish that helps extend the life of the timber.

Colours used include Walnut, Hazelnut, Teak: White (3:1) and Hazelnut: White (3:1), applied across Western Red Cedar and Vitex. Photography by Bridget Hackshaw.
